Nothing’s Wrong With You — And You’re Still Missing the Mark

There are moments in your life where you can see exactly what’s going on.
You know what you said matters to you. And you can see it, clearly… you didn’t do it.
You missed the mark.
And right after that… something steps in.
“I didn’t get enough sleep last night.”
“I’ve barely eaten today.”
“I’ve got too much on my plate right now.”
And instead of staying with it… you move on from it.
Now… we’re living in a time where there’s a lot of messaging around… “nothing’s wrong with you…” “you’re good as you are…” “don’t be so hard on yourself…”
And listen… there’s truth in that.
You’re not broken. You’re not less than. There’s nothing fundamentally wrong with you as a person.
But that has nothing to do… with whether or not you did what you said matters.
Those are two completely different things.
You can be fully worthy… and still miss the mark.
And what happens is… we blur those together.
So now… because we don’t want to be hard on ourselves… we stop looking at where we missed.
And just to be clear… sometimes stepping back is actually the right move.
Sometimes you’ve been pushing for days… and you need to reset so you can actually show up the way you said you would.
Sometimes taking a break is what allows you to follow through properly.
But you can feel the difference.
You know when that’s real… and you know when you’re just choosing something easier in that moment.
And if you don’t look at that… nothing changes.
This shows up in simple places.
You wake up… you said you were going to go to the gym… you don’t go.
You sit down to work… you open your email instead.
You’re in a conversation… you know exactly what you want to say… and you hold it back.
In each of those moments… you knew.
You knew what mattered. You knew what you said you were going to do.
And you didn’t do it.
That doesn’t make you a bad person.
But it does mean you missed.
Just look at that for a second.
Where in your life is that happening right now?
Where can you see… you said something mattered… and you’re not actually moving toward it?
Because here’s the deeper part… and this is subtle…
people stop letting themselves be specific about what they want.
They don’t actually name it.
It turns into… “I’m just going to see what happens.” “I’m trying to go with the flow.” “If it’s meant to work out, it will.”
And it sounds peaceful.
But what it really does… is remove anything to aim at.
Now there’s no clear target.
So of course you miss.
Because nothing has been clearly named.
And when that happens… your decisions stay the same.
Your days stay the same.
You keep doing what you’ve been doing… and hoping it leads somewhere different.
So it’s not about being hard on yourself.
It’s about being willing to see where you missed… and being clear about what you actually want.
So just pause for a second…
What do you actually want?
Not what sounds right. Not what you think you should say.
What do you actually want?
Because once that’s clear… you can see your choices differently.
You can see, in real time… whether you’re moving toward it… or missing it.
And when you start seeing that clearly… that’s when things begin to change.
